Cute conversation I over heard today...

As I was leaving the main offices today a preschool class was just getting out!

I walked by a little boy and his mom, he said to his mom,"Mommy, what is that?"

Mom said, "That's a tractor" (we still have construction going on at our campus).

he then said, "mommy will you get me one of those?"

I turned and smiled...it was just really cute!

The mom responded, "maybe when you're older!"

I love seeing the little preschoolers around work!

I've been tagged

I've been tagged by Megan and Ryan. So I guess I better do this thing!
1. I love Coconut creamer for my coffee.
2. I love the smell of fresh cut grass. I think from playing soccer for so many years!
3. I still sleep with a blankie...:)
4. I have never been to Europe, but would love to go!!!
5. I have NO desire to owe anyone money ever again, trust me~! I am paying Biola a junk load of money!
6. I am currently reading the "Twilight" series. And can't believe I am so into it, neither can my husband! I started the book for research purposes for my junior high parents...oops! I finished the first book in 3 days, almost done with the 2nd...
7. My husband just bought a pair of rollerblades for our student center skate park. I love him so much!

my years in youth ministry...

So this is Morgan, Lauren, and me last year. I took the girls out for a day 'o' fun with just me and we had a blast.

Well, last night John and I went and had dinner with Morgan's family and truly had a wonderful time. I got to chat with Michelle (Morgan's mom) and talk about life and how I got into Ministry. As I took a trip down memory lane with her, I was reminded of a lot...

I was awake early this morning and just began to think. I have been ministering to junior high students since I was 16. Almost 10 years. It always looked different. from volunteer to intern, intern to staff coordinator, staff coordinator to now pastoring a group of students, plus throw in a few years of being a camp counselor. Although, I felt like a pastor most of the way, God has taught me so much in 10 years. Yet, I have a TON more to learn and I hope I continue until I am old and gray! There were moments along the way where I could have chosen a different direction in my life, but I have to tell you I am so glad God has called me to ministry. And grateful to all the people who helped me get her along the way.

At small group the other night, my girls and I went through this years theme verse...

2 Peter 1:5-9 (the message)
So don't lose a minute in building on what you've been given, complementing your basic faith with good character, spiritual understanding, alert discipline, passionate patience, reverent wonder, warm friendliness, and generous love, each dimension fitting into and developing the others. With these qualities active and growing in your lives, no grass will grow under your feet, no day will pass without its reward as you mature in your experience of our Master Jesus. Without these qualities you can't see what's right before you, oblivious that your old sinful life has been wiped off the books.

I pray and hope to live my life this way, and teach our students to as well. And to learn everyday!

Happy BOSS day!!!

Thought I'd let you (who read this) that today is boss day!!

I have been blessed with some pretty amazing bosses!

So to my boss at Saddleback who taught me a junk load about life and ministry, Kurt Johnston. Thanks for just being our friend and preforming our wedding, we sure love you! Happy Boss day (even tho you aren't my boss anymore)!!! I'm glad I still get to see you!

And now...
to my current boss at Mariners, Phil Shinners.

You're great! Seriously, thank you for encouraging us, teaching us, and just doing life with us. I'm so grateful God brought me to Mariners and that I get to work for you! I'm grateful for your convictions, your heart for students, your love for our team, and your love for your family! Happy BOSS day!!

The whole team sure loves you a lot!

list 'o' stuff to do...

So, I am just about to leave for lunch, then a meeting, then hanging out with students, but I am overwhelmed with thoughts of all I need to to at home. So I decided I would write the list here instead of a piece of paper I will probably lose.

call for carpet cleaning
pay bills (boo!)
clean out garage

But everything was so fun! My sweet 7th grader Valentina played guitar with me and I couldn't be more proud of her!

Also, my new friend Kelly led Worship with me! Seriously, I love this girl! She started at Mariners about 2-3 months ago. She works in Outreach and volunteers for me with 7th grade girls! I seriously LOVE HER!!!

Plus, my parents came out for weekend #2 and it was so fun to see them serve and have them around! I love that they feel connected to Mariners! And of course everyone LOVES them!
